The Province of Quebec has tabled a new bill (meaning it is slated to be voted on to become law) banning "dangerous dogs" and one of the breeds listed on this government legislation is the Rottweiler. Quebec is Canada's 2nd largest province with 23.2% of Canada's population. There are many Rottweiler breeders in Quebec. If you know of any Rottweiler owners in Quebec - please let them know the legislation is before the government and if they want to continue to breed and own the Rottweiler then it is imperative they get very active immediately fighting this legislation so the breed ban does not become law. When a breed is banned - it means that no one can own that breed. The bill proposes to grandfather existing Rottweiler owners but when those dogs die, the owners cannot get another Rottweiler. Breed Specific Legislation is in all of our back yards if we own a Rottweiler - all countries. We can think it does not affect us as too far away. The Rottweiler is currently banned in several cities in Canada. At a town 2 hours from where I live, the Rottweiler must be muzzled at all times in public. Please get involved and write to the Minister at the email provided by Maureen Gray and tell them about your special Rottweiler and why it is wrong to ban the Rottweiler.

The digital version of the latest magazine should be available by the end of the week and the print version should be mailed to all countries early next week. In this issue, there are some really excellent interviews. (1) Edgar Hellmann, (2) Oliver Rotti Neubrand, (3) Xaver Meixner (pictures supplied by Claudia Meixner). Plus many others who do, and have done so much for the breed, such as Kimberly Cardona's story (USA). Kimmy is one of the judges for the Landesgruppe Chicago 2017 Spring Sieger Show in Illinois. Thank you everyone who helps make the magazine what it is! There is a ton of reading in this issue, so much history on the breed. Part 1 of the interview with Oliver is 7 pages. Part 2 is the second half and will be in the summer magazine. We will have an index of the cover up tomorrow.
